"My husband Gordon took his own life after a 10-year struggle with Frontotemporal Degeneration (dementia) that took his voice first and finally took his motor skills. He had been a gifted salesman, businessman and preacher. He never completely lost his cognitive abilities. He believed he knew why God allowed this to happen to him, and he never lost his faith in his Savior.
I have been a caregiver since my early years with a handicapped brother and sister. I enjoy walking and gardening because both offer a chance to communicate closely with God. Reading, teaching, and having a good time with friends round out my time since retirement. I have two married children and five grandchildren who are the joy of my life."
